Dedicated IP Guide

A dedicated IP address allows your emails to be sent from a unique, exclusive address, giving you complete control over the sender's reputation and email deliverability. Email service providers monitor these IPs to determine how reliably your emails reach their destinations.

When should I get a dedicated IP address?

If you're sending large volumes of emails—typically over 200,000 per month—using a dedicated IP can be crucial for building a reliable sender reputation. This investment enhances email security protocols like SPF, DMARC, DKIM, and SSL, protecting against spoofing. Unlike shared IPs, a dedicated IP prevents risks associated with other senders' actions and safeguards against domain hijacking, ensuring secure email communication.

Eligibility for a Dedicated IP:

Accounts with a total contact count exceeding 100,000 or those that have sent more than 200,000 emails in the last 30 days are recommended to get a Dedicated IP.

Benefits of Dedicated IP:

Enhanced Email Delivery: Dedicated IPs often lead to quicker email delivery times. Major email providers such as Gmail and Yahoo generally prefer emails sent from dedicated IPs, which helps ensure faster delivery directly to inboxes. Additionally, your performance remains unaffected by other users since you're not sharing bandwidth.

Complete Control Over Sender and IP Reputation: Owning a dedicated IP means you control your sending practices and IP reputation. This autonomy allows for tailored strategies without external disruptions.

Streamlined Issue Resolution: With a dedicated IP, you're the sole sender, which simplifies the process of identifying and resolving any IP-related issues. This direct approach enhances the reliability and effectiveness of your services.

Boosted Cybersecurity: A dedicated IP adds a protective layer against cybersecurity threats such as domain hijacking, malware, and hacking attempts, thereby securing your online activities more robustly.

Using a Dedicated IP (Best Practices):

In the world of email service providers (ESPs), maintaining a good reputation is crucial. When using a dedicated IP, it's important to carefully manage the volume and timing of your emails to avoid triggering spam filters. Ideally, you should gradually increase your email volume every 24 hours to ensure a smooth escalation.

Dedicated IPs prove most effective for consistently sending large volumes of emails. However, sporadic bursts of high-volume sending can backfire, leading to being marked as a spammer by email filters or even resulting in being blocklisted. ESPs are particularly sensitive to sudden spikes in email activity.

For those with irregular, high email volumes, a shared IP may be more beneficial, blending your sporadic high volumes with the consistent traffic of other users on the same IP.

In the dynamic field of email delivery, skillful strategy and tact are vital to maintaining an excellent reputation with ESPs and ensuring your messages are delivered to their intended recipients.

We recommend sending at least 50,000 messages weekly to maintain a strong reputation and minimize throttling by mailbox providers. Additionally, it's advisable to use one dedicated IP for every 1 million messages sent each month. This strategy promotes optimal deliverability and boosts your email performance overall.

Note: We do have the option to assign more than one IP to a single domain and Vice versa, if your domain is associated with multiple IPs, emails will be sent through all these IPs in a round-robin manner. This method ensures a balanced distribution of email traffic among the IPs linked to your domain.
